Welcome to my fitness and health journal. I created this blog because I wanted a place where I could keep track of my efforts as well as share my physical successes with friends. I am not an athlete, health nut, etc. just a normal person wanting to challenge myself. This blog also helps keep me accountable for any goals I set. Don't let me slack off!

Rock Bottom Run Club : 2
I finally made it back to the Rock Bottom run club tonight. I usually have to pass since the start time is when we usually have our family dinner plus the temperatures have just been way to hot to run this early in the evening. I was supposed to do 5 miles according to my marathon schedule, but a combination of the blazing sun and the fact that I would have to add 2 more miles to the regular 5K everyone was doing, I punked out at 3.

Run: Treadmill
I slacked off on Friday and didn't do my 3 mile run. I did, however manage to complete my longest run to date tonight...8 miles!!! Unfortunately I had to do it on the treadmill since I wasn't free to start my run until later in the evening and running in the dark is not exactly safe for a chic-a-dee like me.
BTW, it took me 94 minutes.
PS. I used my mew shoes tonight. Really love them so far. Guess we'll see how they hold up on the pavement later this week.

Run
Wasn't able to go run with the Jack Quinn Club today since the hubby had to stay late at work, but I still managed to do my 3 miles around the neighborhood. I was hauling ass for the first mile and even started off at a <10 min/mi pace, but I got a wicked cramp in my side and had to take time to walk it off. This was the first time during a run that I've had a pain that bad. Must have been from the large dinner I had just an hour before.

Warrior Dash 2011

Went up to Cooper Mountain to participate in the Warrior Dash.
ABOUT:
Warrior Dash (Rockies) is 3.15 miles of mud-crawling, fire-leaping, extreme run from hell. This fierce running series is held on the most challenging and rugged terrain across the globe. Warriors conquer extreme obstacles, push their limits and celebrate with kick-ass music, beer and warrior helmets.

Had a kick ass time!! Definitely want to do this again next year.
More pictures to come...

Run
My legs were shot after the Incline on Saturday and I wasn't sure I would be able to get my long run in for the week in. I figured I could at least go to the community gym to ride the stationary bike the 5 miles I was suppose to log in. As I left the house, I decided to run to the clubhouse rather than drive and surprisingly felt pretty good. I pushed myself to run a little further when I reached 2 1/2 miles I committed to running all 5!

Let Try This Again!
Been really slacking on working out and making countless excuses for why I can't possibly spare an hour or so a day to exercise. My motivation to start working out again all started when I signed up and did the Metro Dash last month in Denver. This thing kicked my butt! I felt like crap the entire way through it and vowed I would never set foot on another obstacle course ever again.
I didn't want to believe that I had let myself get beat by a stinking physical challenge, so I started running again and even registered for the upcoming Warrior Dash.
A couple months ago I also started working out with kettle bells. I get together a couple times a week with a few friends to do KB swings, which, I must say, is a total body workout.
To top it all off I have decided to run my first 1/2 marathon this coming October at the Denver Rock n' Roll Marathon. A friend of mine ran it last year and has convinced me that if i stick with the 10 week training program, I too can do it. I'm into week 2 of the training schedule and so far so good. I have joined a couple local running clubs to encourage my butt to get out there and run. Jack Quinn every Tuesday and Rock Bottom every Wednesday.
I will use this blog to keep me honest with my training and reduce any chances that I may slack off again. I know it hasn't worked that well in the past, but here's hoping!
